Finter captures the quiet poetry of the in-between — where autumn releases its final warmth and winter begins to take hold. A line of bare trees rises from a golden field, their dark branches etched against a soft, pale sky. The horizon hums with a whisper of cold rolling in, and the crop is sprinkled with frost.
On the prairies, the change from fall to winter often happens in the blink of an eye — one day you’re admiring the leaves, and the next you’re digging out the snow shovel. I started jokingly calling that blink-of-an-eye season Finter, a few years ago. This painting is my nod to that quick, quiet shift between warmth and frost — a reminder of how fleeting beauty can be.
